What Wine Did You Drink Today #1? 2015-2020

Yes, it would be better to post this as a new thread or in a cooking related thread, like June What´s for Dinner.

I cannot help …

The fact that you did post it here makes me want to know even more what wine you were drinking.

LOL. In the middle of the day?

I meant to post my query in What’s for Dinner.

Nothing special with the wine, just a mid-priced Chardonnay, but how adorable are these mini strawberries from our front yard? :strawberry:

Hmm … I think wine is a whole art! For each dish, you have to choose a specific wine, so I cannot single out just one specific taste. I don’t know much about dessert wines, so I can’t say anything about them (usually my wife chooses them). If we talk about my choice, then I really like shiraz. Great wine to use with meals. We have a small collection of wines in our family that we use both on ordinary days and on holidays. I even had to buy a wine cooler in order to keep all our bottles. 2/3 of the entire refrigerator is occupied by my red wines. The rest of the bottles were chosen by my wife. It is mainly white wine. We still have a little free space, but I think that after reading this article, the free space will end

I forgot to write that I even had to purchase a separate wine cooler (something like this https://www.foodieandtours.com/best-built-in-wine-cooler/) in order to store all our bottles. I think this is one of the most useful things that we bought lately

I had an excellent French red blend under $20 consisting of Grenache, Syrah, and carignan.

Thank you. It was an excellent value and received a rating of 93 points. Below is the write up.

93 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com

“Coming from Maury and a blend of 40% Grenache and 30% each of Carignan and Syrah, the deep purple colored 2017 Chimeres is a sensational wine in every sense. Kirsch, blueberries, blackberries, crushed rocks, and violet notes all flow to a full-bodied, pure, layered 2017 that’s packed with character, yet stays pure, focused, and perfectly balanced. This cuvée is brought up in equal parts concrete tank and demi-muid, and comes all from black slate soils. Buy a case and drink it over the coming 4-6 years.”

Product Description:

The 2017 Chateau Saint Roch Chimeres Cotes du Roussillon Villages is easily one of the best bang-for-your-buck wines red you will ever come across!

Tons of ripe and lush red fruit notes - blueberry and macerated strawberry, paired with a hint of leather and mocha. This wine drinks more like a $50+ Chateauneuf du Pape and is only a tiny fraction of the price!

We had an outstanding 2005 Rocca Napa Valley Syrah. It had such complexity to it.

Two weeks ago, we drove up the coast of Girona to see my parents and grand parents. Here is what we drank and had paired with the Champagne.

Back to craziness here with a “re-run” of another wave of Covid. Italy and Spain are waging war.

How was it? I’m cellaring 2004 magnums and haven’t tried it in a long while.

Celebrated a birthday dining outside No 9 Park in Boston with a bottle of Movia Puro, a Slovenian sparkler that is shipped undisgorged. They disgorged it tableside in a bucket of water, inverting the bottle and wrenching the cork off with something that looked a bit like a tire iron. Sitting on the lees that long it certainly had that toasty character - really a delightful wine. image

It was great. Lost a little fruit but still solid. Ridge wines are built to last.

You have more restraint than I can muster, cellaring a sv Rhys for that long. And a Chassagne-Montrachet warmup. Well played!
