The Broad’s Yayoi Kusama infinity mirror exhibit has such a long line they give you a number and you come back….often 5-6 hours later (or more)…and you get one (1) minute in there and that’s it. I really wanted to see it, but not for one minute and not that long of a wait.
I saw the Yayoi Kusama exhibit in Washington, DC. They give you more time than you need. It’s popularity owes much to Instagram.
And you don’t wait there, you go and come back.
Wait time is a good point to choose the restaurant or not. I generally do not like to wait in lines even if the restaurant is good. So 15-20 minutes is max for me. I have lined up to 1 hour in the past but that had negative impact on the meal appreciation. Asian places usually have a ‘numbering’ system that I find quite efficient.
For reservation, there are those hot places that one need to book several months ahead. I’m getting less patient these days and prefer places that are available just a few days or hours ahead. Last minute fine dining for good food is a challenge as usually it’s impossible, unless there are cancellations.
I was a member of a museum and was able to secure tickets three times. I had priority over other ticket buyers because of my level of membership.
I reserved the tickets months in advance.
Brought different friends. Depending on the day and time, sometimes we could take our time going through.
I also had a few acquaintances butter me up, and ask to attend as my guests
I brought them if I could (Have any of them ever offered me a spare to ticket to a concert, or checked in on me over the last 5 years? The answer is no. Lol. That’s different.)
I tried to visit a Kusama museum in Japan as a walk- in on a weekday in January 2020, and that was not possible. I don’t ever book my museum visits in advance while travelling.
