Industry on HBO/MAX just keeps getting better and better.
Episode 3, this Season-sizzled! So good.
Yes, that was a great episode.
Hard yes. I bet if I search YouTube, there is probably a 12 hour ASMR feed of bacon cooking (ASMR - autonomous sensory meridian response - but, more broadly now are video channels that focus on ambient noise that the viewer likes to relax with).
First episode of Only Murder’s in the Building was lovely. It’s like settling down with interesting funny old (and young) friends for the next month.
‘American Ocelot’ on Nature (PBS). Cats, naturally.
Thank you so much for the Hellbender recommendation. We enjoyed it a lot, and look forward to watching Hellhole next
Last night I finished up Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War on Netflix. Entertaining and educational, and the narration by Ed Harris was superb – hilarious in the right places.
Hellbender… Hellhole…
I’m glad you enjoyed it!! I also found out I made a small error. They have a film made between the two above, titled Where the Devil Roams. It’s about a family of sideshow carnies in the 30’s that have a slight problem of being a touch homicidal.
It’s a little looser and more ‘artsy’ than the other two, with more emphasis on the atmosphere than the plot, but still quite enjoyable. It’s currently streaming on Tubi.
I’m trying to stick with it, but finding a little difficult to stay focused.
It got a lil shticky for us in the 2nd season, but we kept at it since we love Martin Short.
At least it didn’t take a total dive like Ted Lasso in the second season.
I see @Madrid recommended it awhile ago.
Around the same time @truman recommended Three Pines. I’ve been reading books by the author in anticipation of my trip to Canada. Hopefully I can watch that one too.
Yeah, we never got through the last season of Ted Lasso. I like OMITB and have enjoyed all three seasons and love Martin Short, really really like Steve Martin and have come around on Selena Gomez. Last season the musical that Martin Short character directed was pretty funny and they definitely get great guest stars.
We never watched the rest of it. First epsiode was ok and I think I would have had to join another streaming service to watch it and reviews were kind of so/so. Something we love-Slow Horses starts next week.
One of our favorite series. Reservation Dogs is even better!
I absolutely loved Reservation Dogs.
Hellbenders
I have apparently missed TWO of the Adams family’s films. In addition to Where Evil Lurks on Tubi, there’s also The Deeper You Dig, currently on Shudder. Honestly, I like it better than Evil Lurks. It’s excellent.
This time we have Toby Poser as a tarot card reader and Zelda Adams as her daughter Echo, who is accidentally killed by Kurt (John Adams). Kurt tries to bury his guilt off in the woods, but you can’t really get rid of it when you’re guilty.
The leisurely pace works, emphasizing the melancholy winter setting.
I really can’t be emphatic enough in how skillfully this family is crafting their stories, with a mind toward economy and making the most of their available resources. They never feel LIMITTED by their constraints. Instead, they seem to let them inspire them. It makes these projects all that much more fun to watch.
If you dug Hellbenders definitely put this on your list.
I just finished Dark Winds. I enjoyed it, I have read a lot of Tony Hillerman’s books.
