What Did You Drink Today (non-wine) #1? (2015-2020)

DH cracked open this new bottle. I did not have any but he said it was more earthy and less vanilla/caramel than most bourbon. He enjoyed it.

I’ll take a hint of peat and smoke but don’t want to feel like I licked a campfire.

We’ve pick about 4 JJ Bowman barrels in the last 3 hrs.

Enjoyed neat in a snifter after dinner, this Calvados is “more than 24 years of age.” Bottled in 2006, which is when I bought it from the domaine and carried it back from Normandy. This is bottle number 483 out of 500 produced. Finally finished it last night . . . .

Deep amber-gold in color, aromatic with ripe apples, light-to-moderate oak, vanillin, spice; smooth on the palate, VERY flavorful, with a long, smooth, and very tasty finish.

Should have been the last 3 yrs

PBR straight out of the bottle . A cold refreshment right after a days work . I don’t like the micros until later in the evening .

Old fashioned. Doesn’t last long enough to get a pic.

Barrel aged Manhattans tonight. It’s good and bad they are on tap in my kitchen

That sounds dangerous .:smirk:

In Cold Blood (mezcal, amaro nardini, blackberry, lime juice), Chaos Theory (rye, hibiscus, lemon juice, peychaud’s bitters, orange flower water, egg white), Paloma (mezcal, grapefruit juice, grapefruit liqueur, tonic, soda).

Bowman is nice, more elegant and not as sweet as some. I don’t love it, but wouldn’t turn down a glass, or a cocktail made with it.

I like Bowman. It’s Buffalo Trace juice that gets shipped to Virginia and gets redistilled and then taken down to 50% abv. Then it becomes a product of Virginia

Why doe’s B Trace get knocked down to 50% abv? I live next to Kentucky and we call that water.

Chopin vodka martini tonight.

We buy a lot of Old Weller Antique 104. Drinks like it’s higher proof. Once it leaves BT they can do what they want but Bowman is typically 100 unless it’s a single barrel at barrel proof which I have a couple of the Abraham Bowman single barrel bourbons and ryes and they are old and high proofs. Delicious

Thanks for all of the Bowman info! Tonight we had a Clint Eastwood…rye, angostura, green chartreuse, demerara syrup, orange peel garnish.

Not a drink yet, but I made a strawberry-Meyer lemon shrub for Barbary & Hearst cocktail (bourbon, lemon juice, shrub, ginger syrup, angostura bitter sweet).

Strained with the vinegar added.

Fig Mountain wildwood red IPA. Served in this cute soju glass. The glass was used at our local Chinese restaurant and I asked if we could buy two. The owner thought I was crazy, but sold me two for $3.

Had a pour of a barrel pick Four Roses and Old Weller Antique earlier and now a can of Ten Fidy to round out the afternoon. Life is good and lovin weekends

especially when the weather’s as awesome as it is for us this weekend! Have you/will you been out to any of the great things going on this weekend? I spent a few hours at the local art festival listening to local bands…just enough sun that I no longer look like I’m here on vacation…!

Spent the day at home which is fine by me. Outside by the pool and taken care of some yard stuff. My wife was in Brooksville at an alpaca farm. Learning to spin alpaca wool.
