What are your favorite sandwich / sammich / sanguich combos?

I made a hash brown and Dubliner on pain de mie sandwich yesterday, grilled in butter. Delish. I will take a photo next time. I made the hash browns myself, frying them in butter and oil.

Inspired by all the ppl adding a hash brown to their Filet o Fish or Egg McMuffins.

I am fairly new to potato sandwiches.

I have trouble chewing a sandwich made using a baguette….too much gnawing!

Csn always make the ham and Comté on soft bread!

My Pain de Mie has become a favourite here at home.

In Ireland, Subway’s bread was deemed NOT bread.

My favorite sandwich is a tuna salad hot (put in toaster whole to warm) from Caffe Centro is SF’s South Park. They’re still open but haven’t been in a dozen years.

Most memorable is pâté and baguette sandwich from The Metropole in Berkeley, around 1983. First time I had a decent baguette and pate. I use AI to find where.

Thank you for sharing!

Fiddlesticks. I was hoping it was an AZ homage to John’s Roast Pork (in Philly).

Hmm, favorite sandwich. Yeah that’s not possible.

But some of the better ones that come to me mind are:

  • (Palermo) with roasted eggplant, tomato, lettuce, and sea salt.
  • (Pisa) with roasted eggplant and ricotta
  • (Alexandria, Egypt) with falafel, roasted eggplant [the Mediterranean seems to do this well], tahini, lettuce, tomatoes, and fries
  • (Toluca) just about whatever they threw in with the chorizo verde
  • (Philadelphia) eponymous sandwich at John’s Roast Pork
  • (NYC) Pisillo; can’t quite recall what was on it, save for some sort of pistachio spread and burrata. oh right, it was probably porchetta.

Therefore the (title) option of naming any and all you can think of and enjoy.

ETA: I was terribly underwhelmed by John’s roast pork, so much so that I bitched about it on the Philly eats sub/r, and was immediately challenged to a fight. Wouldn’t expect anything less from Philalphia :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Sentimental favorite - Philippe’s French Dip Roast Beef.

Generally, a good torta, carnitas, lengua or al pastor, can hit the spot especially if they griddle or press it.

I have only had Phillipe’s French Dip once. Loved it!!! I went back when I was taking Amtrak from New Orleans to Seattle, and I thought the host said they were only serving breakfast so I ordered an omelet and then I saw someone get the French Dip.
I was rather sad.

The breakfast and other non sandwich dishes like stew and chili are also pretty good. ETA; in an old school non-fussy kind of way.
