International Clash Day on WWOZ | WWOZ New Orleans 90.7 FM

February 7 is International Clash Day, which is celebrated by noncommercial radio stations around the globe – so just for fun, WWOZ is joining in. Tune in midnight tonight as WWOZ show hosts pay tribute to one of their favorite bands. This special broadcast will be on till 6am CT.

Too Much Effing Perspective Show Tribute: Jeff Beck Gets In The Pants of Spinal Tap’s Music Director (breakingandentering.net)

Unfortunately I was too young to experience The Clash when they were at their prime. But I was blown away when I first heard London Calling. They are still one of the few rock bands to have succesfully blended different genres, from dub to dance. Their rythm section plays like a dance beat, before dance beats were a thing. No wonder they were being played in NYC dance clubs!

lots of cool tidbits on the 2/7 archive show at wwoz. im a big fan too. There’s a lot of punk rock I do like, but these cats seem head and shoulders above the rest for the reasons you mention.
