I see it’s 420 @bbqboy !
I remember when they kept advertising/previewing Miami Vice week after week after week. We were literally glued to our TV set that Friday night thinking it was a movie. Only to find out at the end to be continued. We were like WTH? PR did a good job there. Oh well, we got over it. Good show.
Note one of cast in the original Against All Odds:
I didn’t know Against all odds was a remake, nor have I seen the original! I did see Against all odds again a few months ago, and liked it as one of those quirky 80s movies - not great (versus for example Amadeus which came out around the time) but interesting enough to see it through.
Loved Miami Vice! Maybe I should rewatch a few episodes…
Anyone here been reading Bono’s autobiography? Just came out, but still on the fence whether to purchase. They did pick a good title - one of their earlier, underrated songs.
Also among noir catalogue, Body Heat is a remake of Double Indemnity.
It was against all odds for us boys to see Rachel wards boobs when that came out but we made it. Just googling movies 1984 is like a murderers row of classics! Beverly Hills cop police academy bachelor party ghostbusters 16 candles (has not aged well!) footloose gremlins swingshift many many more
Once upon a time in America, The terminator… But Amadeus deserves the top spot imho.
Yep. Who needs Mozart when you have tuffnel
Mel Torme Christmas music.
Is today my lucky bun day?
ok so i’ve been reminded of haggis and scotland where Mike Myers in So I Married an Axe Murderer says it does seem most of the cuisine is based on a dare…i mean I did have a deep fried hamburger bun and all waiting for the ferry to skye back in the day…what are the top musical artists and songs from scotland?
anyone can pick Rod the Mod who is part Scottish, or then Gerry Rafferty has some smooth numbers, and Ian Anderson and David Byrne have some classic rock for sure. Bon Scott takes the cake for bagpipe rock songs with Long Way to the Top (fuck yeah). Sorry I’m not going with Big Country tho that was a well played MTV video or the Proclaimers. When you say something isn’t your bag, you really mean it in this category.
Come inside my sugar walls? yes please. I’ll take the morning train for Sheena Easton any day.

What songs from Scotland or Scottish artists do you like?
Well…
Didn’t know Franz Ferdinand were Scottish.
And then of course one of the most iconic ‘Scottish’ songs ever made by a non-Scot, was by a Beatle.
