One of my favorites. It was quite an experience visiting the house he was living in when he composed it.
The version I like best is by Karl Böehm/Vienna, of the half-dozen or so I own.
Beautiful!
Oh, now that"s a bummer. This is one of verrrrry few musicals I enjoy. I think the movie is well done (tho I’ll admit it’s been a while), and the songs are great for the most part.
My PIC’s a soccer fan, and every time Manchester is mentioned I start singing Manchester, England
Tremendous!
We are in New Orleans. Last night we went to the Cajun Concert Series put on by the George Wein Foundation who put on Jazz and Heritage to see Balfa Toujours. It has been so long sice i listened to it and the performance reconnected me to a music i loved back in the 80s. And my love of it was inspired by listening to the Balfa Brothers.
Last night, father’s day eve was also the 31st anniversary of Dewey’s passing and his daughter is keeping the tradition alive and building it for the future as a music teacher.
After, I got to relate the story to her and clearly she loved it. Our next trip to New Orleans will definitely include a Cajun music festival!
