Can’t get enough of Momma. Thinking of taking the drive to VT to see them in June.
And if you want to get lost in beats and sounds. A little Mandragora…

I got to see Buddy Rich once, when I was a 12 year old drummer. He played a concert at some local outdoor event and afterwards, I stood, waiting to meet him for upwards of an hour. When he finally emerged, he contemptuously sneered at the small crowd of us who were waiting (including several other kids around my age) and muttered something before half-heartedly waving and ducking back inside.
I have since learned that Buddy, while undoubtedly a tremendously talented musician, was a notorious asshole. There’s even a whole joke about it:
So not too long after Rich’s death, a guy calls Buddy Rich’s old agent. “Hello! I’d like to book Buddy Rich for a show!” “I’m sorry, sir. Perhaps you hadn’t heard. Mr. Rich died last month.” “Oh! Sorry. Good bye!” and the guy hangs up.
The next day: “Hello! I’d like to book Buddy Rich.” The agent thinks he sounds familiar, but just says, again “I’m sorry. Mr. Rich passed away last month.” “Oh! Alright then. Good bye.” and he hangs up.
The day after that: “Hello! I’d like to book Buddy Rich.” “Now see here! I recognize your voice. I told you twice now. Buddy Rich is DEAD!” “Oh, I know! I just like hearing you say it.”
He blessed us all with his craft. RIP:guitar:
Sad to hear this news, was just thinking of him the other day. RIP GL.
Erik Satie Gnossiennes, perfect for a quiet, grey afternoon.
I recently re-discovered alt-J and have been pretty much exclusively listening to their œuvre on shuffle in my car.
I’m only somewhat ashamed to say I owned this LP. And the actual soundtrack, of course.
