Diana Krall, Live in Paris, A Case of You.
Always shed tears with this tune.
That voice!
I’m incredibly late to this particular party, but a friend recently played me what I thought was a Bjork song that I was unfamiliar with, and I was stunned when she told me no, this was someone else. And Bjork is not someone you mistake someone else for, musically. But here you go: Johanna Newsom, one of the leaders of what is apparently a niche but very solid chunk of music characterized as “progressive folk”. All I know is it’s odd and dreamy and I will need to start looking up more from her:
This track needs a thunderstorm outside and a cup of very good tea to go with it.
Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga…Love for Sale. A better than average band backing them. O my.
Iconic Madonna song! Hate everything after say 1985 though…
Mmhhh… female pop stars… I kinda like Sia if I have to choose someone from the current age. But it seems this song was heavily inspired by the 80s, and Pat Benatar in particular.
Yeah, I like that. I have the version by Mariner/ASMIF.
Besides Madonna, Beyonce at the 2003 VMAs linked above got me hooked and I have enjoyed the pop ride. Sometimes it’s the voice, sometimes the song, sometimes the whole package, especially when they can pull it off live.
