I woke up with this rattling around in my brain this morning. Hadn’t heard it years.

Nice!

Having that bouncing around in my head knocked loose this one!

(Was a time I rocked that haircut, but in purple.)

I was crushing hard on an Egyptian boy in middle school when this one came out.

Got to see them live with a bunch of other big names (DB, Eurythmics, Bob Geldof, UB40) at my first ever music festival in the 90s.

Both you and @ricepad picked songs that are on my “Walking” Spotify list. The 80s had the right beat.

That was a time just before I met Mrs. ricepad, early '80s. She, too, finds it hard to believe, but that was a time when I didn’t get my picture taken much, so I don’t think any of the offending haircut exist! FTR, it was a red cellophane over a blue cellophane, which resulted in a purplish haze. ('Scuze me while I kiss this guy.)

Phil’s Motown phase always POed me.
When Genesis went into that Motown medley was my sign to go to the bathroom and get another beer.

No quibble here.

To our eyes/ears, covering Motown is not a good idea, because a good portion of Motown’s lasting impression goes beyond the song – presentation matters for classic Motown.

Compare Rolling Stones version to these five tall good looking guys’ original version done endless times , . . . guys who could sing and dance the song and put it on the map to be archived:
