it’s been very hard for me not to ask some follow-up questions @wonderwoman
- loving alone
- 3-4 servings
- leaving head room

The food at Michaels of Avenue R is excellent. A family favorite. My dad had his 82nd birthday party there.
You do you.
Heh.
thought it was contextually clear, but ok:)
‘love’ was a typo — meant “live”
3-4 servings per jar: eat one, freeze the rest
headroom: i use glass jars and liquids expand when frozen and if there isn’t a little room at the top, the jar cracks, there are glass shards in the sauce and a mess in your freezer.
@wonderwoman - I think @Thimes mean how the 2nd and 3rd comments might relate to the 1st one as written. Or at least that’s the way I took it. Then again - I’m a singleton, so maybe it’s just more on my mind.
It was clear, sorry I wasn’t clear … with the one typo the rest of those perfectly mundane things may piece together to a larger funnier question …
I mean after 3-4 servings of self love is there really room for head?
Feel free to edit as necessary. But my hand was forced - it was difficult enough not to type it out the first time. LOL.
is there really room for head?
This thread is really going south…
too funny — not surprisingly, proof reading has never been my best thing, as editors i’ve worked with can attest:)
Don’t you mean it’s going down?

Only on HO will a discussion about marinara drift to oral.
Sorry all - getting back on track
I’ve never heard of Mezzeta’s artisanal variety.
What retailer was selling it for such a good price?
When red sauce goes blue. Or something in that vein.
The Mezzetta I featured just showed up at my local Grocery Outlet in Altadena, CA. A lot of GO products show up for a brief time and then disappear once they sell out. The major grocery chains in my area are Albertson’s (Von’s, Pavilion’s, Safeway in Northern California) and Kroger (Ralph’s). I believe they are available at these stores and are often reduced as part of their sale price strategy, but I can’t say with utmost confidence because I don’t shop at either of those big chains more than intermittently. Mezzetta does have an online presence, perhaps they have a store locator? Happy hunting.
On Lake? I didn’t know it had reopened. Or am I conflating it with Aldi?
GO opened around the end of February IIRC, which is rather astonishing given the fact that everything surrounding it was destroyed by the fire. They also did an incredible job of remediating and restocking everything in a very short period of time. I’ve spoken with the owners on several occasions and due to the massive displacement of the neighborhood, their sales volume is way down. So if there’s anything you need that they can offer, please consider supporting this store. Also, they are the only dropoff location if you want to have your soil tested for contaminants from USC. (I’ve heard the LA County of Public Health will start their own testing program in the near future.) Sadly, Aldi did burn down. (And the post office, Everest burgers, Fox’s, the hardware store, etc. etc.)
I’ll try to make a run up this weekend. Used to be up there several times a month (vets office at Lake and Calaveras). I’ve not driven into any of the burn areas as feels to lookie-loo.
My sister just called me from her local Shaw’s. She told me “Shaw’s has Michael’s of Brooklyn! And Carbone! And Victoria! And Yo Mama’s! And Pizza Girl!” (HUH on that last one? LOL) I guess they’re all on sale at a DEEP discount this week.
Then she told me they have Mezzetta (at $3.99 for a 25 oz. jar!), so I asked her to get me one of the plain Marinara. She also picked up Michael’s for herself, because I had told her how much I loved it, and a Mezzetta for herself.
If anyone has a Shaw’s near them, their sale has:
Michael’s of Brooklyn - $7.99/32 oz.
Carbone’s - $5.99/24 oz.
Victoria - $5.99/24 oz.
Botticelli - $4.99/24 oz.
Yo Mama’s - $7.99/25 oz.
Silver Palate Low Sodium - $4.99/25 oz.
(I have to go to Plaistow, NH or Burlington, MA for a “local” Shaw’s - she’s got them all over the place by her on the South Shore of MA.)
Have you tried Yo Mama’s?
I haven’t…yet. The Michael’s has been used; the Carbone is on my counter to be taste-tested and used, and my sister bought me the Mezzetta, so I’ll get that in a couple of weeks.
I know my local Ocean State Job Lot often has Victoria and on rarer occasion, Silver Palate, but I don’t think the latter is a low sodium version. I definitely want to look at the ingredients and sugar/fat/sodium content. Trying to remain good in what I eat; but I’m still going to want something flavorful!
