[UK] The escalating price of fish & chips

Story from a few years ago in the NY Times

There used to be a proper fish & chip shop not to farfrom my apartment that was owned by a Brit expat. Great f&c with mushy peas along with things like curry & chips, fried pizza and room temperature cask ale.

There’s good news and there’s bad news. I looked up the four places mentioned in the article. Skippers in Euxton (about 30 miles north of me) and Seabreeze in Redcar are both still in business. But Chunks in Hartlepool went under and The Chippy, also in the town, hasnt reopened.

Our lunch bunch visited an oldie but goodie pub today, NW Rockies. Some chosethe fish and chips $17 for ample fish, chips and cole slaw. Reports were positive on that dish.
