Turin?

Thanks Ziggy!
Yes we do have plans for 4 nights in Langhe in La Morra at Rocce Costamagna Art Suites! after 2 nights in Alba.
Alas, we are too early for truffle season, as you were, but we love mushrooms. I’ve really enjoyed your “Falling Harder for Piedmont” and have taken many, many notes! Mil gracias.

After Piemonte, we go on to Emilia-Romagna, flying back to Madrid from Bologna, after touring in Bologna, Modena, Ferrara and Ravenna. Way out of my comfort zone!
So it’s in to Turin, out from Bologna with Parma, Alba, Langhe in between.

That’s one heck of a route, if not Italy’s best. You’ll be in food/wine heaven. I’ve been really itching to come back to Bologna and see the “other side”, Ferrara, Ravenna etc

As you can imagine, our focus is food and wine–who would ever guess!

Puglia is next. My friends just came back and raved about it, but I’ve never been.

On a completely, totally unrelated note, I chuckled at your description of the Caminito del Rey on your web site, especially the engineering comment, and it’s a very good idea that I didn’t watch any YouTube videos before attempting this with friends in May. Me, with severe vertigo, actually survived, but during the walk, I was clinging to the metal ropes for dear life. My husband thought it was a walk in the park!

In case its slipped by you in ER…

Antica Corte Pallavicina - The Culatello king
Locanda Mariella in Calestano - A legend in the mountains. You can combine with Castello di Torrechiara
Hosteria Giusti - Iconic store by day, small restaurant by night (still I think, its been a while) in Modena.
Got much more but these were most memorable

Mil gracias, I have them noted!

Puglia is extremely popular these days. I’ve written extensively on it as well. If you are looking for an itinerary, I can help. Dont forget Matera.

Yeah the Caminito hike was crazy. Not as crazy as The Narrows in Zion we did last month.

Agreed! We just cancelled our planned brief visit to Piemonte and a couple meals in E-R , to start today, because of a heat wave in the area and limited air conditioning. We will have to find a time to visit again other than July - leading straight to Lake Garda next week. Im looking forward to any reports!

I revisited Turin this past November, but I think I noted somewhere here that I was traveling with my mother (in her 80s with some mobility and vision problems), and she became ill while we were in town. I did manage to revisit Scannabue, which felt a lot more crowded and touristed than on my previous visit about six? years ago. Food was still good, however, and service friendly although a little hurried/harried.

Fratelli Bruzzone was right by our hotel and managed to squeeze me in with just a couple days notice. I thought the agnolotti was excellent. Seemed to be a tough table to book.

I was decidedly unrelaxed while in Turin this past visit, so I don’t fully trust my impressions as I was very worried about my mom not to mention the outcome of my country’s presidential election!

Will have to return again in a less stressful time.

Loved Ferrara when I visited in 2022 and posted somewhere on HU about a couple good meals there.
