The canned grilled sardines are delicious.
Is the Caro Sugo tomato basil pasta sauce new? Don’t think I’ve seen it before but always looking for a good one. If anyone’s tried it, how does it compare to Mutti, Carbone, Mezetta marinaras?
I bought it but didn’t try it yet, I gave to my friend along with TJ mozzarella and eggplant slices I’d roasted, to make eggplant parm stacks to finish in oven. He added parm and fresh basil.
This sauce is made with Italian tomatoes and basil; I had a gut feeling it might need some sugar so I told him to taste it first. He said yes, it needed sugar. (I always add some when I make sauce with canned tomatoes.)
Nuts, dried pasta, peanut butter, Meyer Lemon Yogurt and Cream, Aussie-style chocolate cream sandwich cookies, water crackers, white cheddar popcorn and an Orchid.
Yes, yes, yes.
Two plastic containers worth?
I have to limit my purchases of these. I’m afraid I’m not as disciplined as you.
I also just saw the Caro Sugo sauce and wondered about it, though I didn’t purchase it at the time. Very curious as to opinions.
Their base level Tomato Basil sauce is perfectly acceptable, though not particularly noteworthy. It’s at least less sweet than Prego, and the $1.99 price point makes up for any shortcomings, most of which can be cured by a little creative doctoring to taste.
@eleeper So what did you get?
The meeting isn’t until May 1. I will report. I don’t want to get into a whole cooler with ice packs thing(*); I’m just one person now, and my freezer is full of Passover leftovers. I made a Thai curry today and have at least two meals’ worth I need to freeze, even after I have it a second time. Maybe in a couple of months I will have space.
- My freezer is so full I had to take out the ice packs I keep in there just in case I need them! I need to get used to stocking for only one.
I hear ya on freezer space
They’re good but, for me, nowhere near as good as the bleu cheese ones were. I get that a business like TJ’s can’t stock EVERY product forever, and I also get that bleu cheese is a far more personal taste…… I’m just ranting! Didn’t make me feel any better, so I’ll just eat some more of the garlic/butter ones.
i try to avoid chips and the like. but, i may just have a try these.
Yea, for the Kumato brown tomatoes. Good tomato flavor and texture, and they last a long time unrefrigerated.
Kumatoes used to be my non-seasonal tomato until I discovered flavor bombs, which are also available at TJ’s. Solid YEA.
Tjs hoisin sauce recipe winners:
We can get great hoisin sauce in nyc, not so much in fl, anyone try it?
I bought one and devoured the bag. So addictive, and I’m a chip fiend. I bought 3 more bags last week.
So strange, I still haven’t seen these near me.
No, I have a giant bottle of hoisin to make my way through before I restock.
Their soy sauce is terrible.
