Rhum Corner has already sold out of their Kremas.
Very impressed by Dough Bakeshop’s holiday offerings, as well as their regular year-round selection of squares and tarts.
FYI there’s a boxing day sale Volo is having for their online only orders (frozen pies have to be pickup in-store after your online order). Also they have PDC’s chicken pot pie which I haven’t tried before. Use code BOTTEGA20 for 20% off and we have HST holiday. Valid till end of this year.
Thanks!!
We bought 3 pies from Sharman’s. And unfortunately these were the worst pies we’ve ever tasted. Tasted like a culinary student’s attempt at making a pie and failing the class. The cooking instructions resulted in an under-cooked pie (yes, my oven is calibrated). Everything was dry. The pastry was terrible and the top comes off like a frisbee. On our final pie, their tourtiere, I baked it more using visual and temperature cues and it was… ugh. Rating for all pies: 0/100. i.e. not worth a penny. If there was anything positive about the pies we tried, I thought the strong cinnamon in their blueberry pie was a combination I’d like to try myself. But the whole package still failed miserably,
Brutal. I am very sorry to hear this.
All part of the game of trying new stuff. Sometimes you win, sometimes not. ![]()
True! On the topic of pies, we liked Kenny’s pies, which are savoury hand pies sold at Hamers Coffee Thu to Sun I think. They’re small. More like puff pastry pies, but nice fillings. I can’t remember if I posted about them in the British and Irish food in [Toronto] and the Greater Toronto Area, 2024 thread
It’s beginning to look a lot like Xmas ![]()
Quite a few church and community holiday bazaars or holiday markets will take place Sat, Nov 15, Sat, Nov 22nd and Sat,Nov 29th. Most feature a bake sale.
The St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Little Italy has their market with a bake sale (Nonna’s baking ) on the 22nd.
Which conflicts with the Dresden Night Market 2025 near Chatham, so I have to choose one!
I have enjoyed the perogies I have purchased at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral on Broadview.
St Vlodimyr’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral on Bathurst near Dundas W also has a bazaar of some sort.
I might do some church bazaar hopping this Saturday.
The Agricola Finnish Church on Old York Mills holds their Xmas Bazaar on Nov 22nd, 10 am to 3 pm. This is one of the few opportunities to purchase Scandinavian home baking in Toronto.

As usual, Bottega Volo has the PDC Tourtiére for pre-order. New this year are the PDC canned meals. Notably missing is the duck in a can. ![]()
Good to know. Thanks!
I have ordered their APDC
Tourtiéres a few times. I noticed they had an APDC chicken pot pie in the freezer last month.
I know they are short on freezer space once the Tourtiéres start arriving so the chicken pot pies might not be available in Dec.
My friend and I visited the Distillery Winter Village Holiday Market at the Distillery District today. Admission is free until 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Lots of new trendy offerings.
We only tried the perogies with mushrooms, which I would not recommend. The perogies seemed to be Cheemo or President’s Choice level, and I can prepare them with mushrooms, onions and sour cream much better at home!
At least the menu of blinged up perogies inspiration, if anyone wanted to make any of these novel perogy preps with better quality perogies and better quality toppings at home.
I like the idea of shawarma-topped perogies or palak paneer-topped perogies. Maybe I’ll top some of Café Polonez cottage cheese perogies with Dil Se’s Palak Paneer one of these days. I will say, if you are going to top perogies with Jerk Chicken, Palak Paneer or Shawarma, potato and onion perogies or cottage cheese perogies would be a superior base to cheddar and potato perogies.
This kiosk at the Winter Village uses cheddar and potato perogies.
The Young Theatre’s Café (where Soulpepper is located) is open for soup, snacks and hot chocolate indoors
Other food stands include bao, empanadas, cotton candy, sausage.
Templeman’s Toffee has a kiosk. They are not taking part in One of a Kind this year. I bought some of their milk chocolate toffee, white chocolate maple toffee and Reindeer Poop toffee for friends.
The Swedish Christmas Fair will be held on Nov 22nd at Harbourfront
One of a Kind runs Nov 27th to Dec 7th this year. It’s usually quite easy to win free tickets through Vendors who are active on Instagram.
I understand that One of a Kind increased the number of food and drink vendors this year.
A past dedicated thread to One of a Kind.
At Donna’s on Lansdowne
We keep trying to track down a mortadella panettone from Terroni, but they keep selling out.
