[Toronto] Top 10 of 2023

How’s the food at Treadwell these days?
In the past, during some of those ’ long day-light ’ summer days, I love to venture into NOTL with my foodie brother-in-law to try out their food…especially when ’ Treadwell Senior ’ was manning the kitchen. Haven’t been back for ages!
If food is still good, I will consider making the trek again.

Food is still good! I too hadn’t been there for several years, deciding to revisit before a Shaw Festival play this past summer, and was very impressed. Dishes were beautifully prepared and presented, and the sommelier’s wine recommendations paired nicely. The highlight for me was a main course serving of Ontario lamb shoulder that was just delicious.

We have reservations at Lucie’s bar next week, but can’t yet comment/vote. I’d usually list Alo and Actinolite, but also haven’t been this year.

Happy to also endorse either Descendant or Little Sister.

Perhaps I’ll set up a voting thread on Jan 31st, so we can narrow down a Top 10 from the places that have had 2 or more mentions!

My wife went to Carbon Bar last night and I had a taste of the leftovers. The fried chicken was great. Pulled pork and ribs were good. Brisket was fine, though not reminiscent of Texas. Mac and cheese was great. Collards were nice, though on the lightly cooked side.

Last time I was there I shared a Pitmaster Platter and enjoyed all of the meats (I’ve never been to Texas so don’t have the same reference point for the brisket). One item missing from your leftovers that I particularly enjoyed is the cheddar jalapeño sausage.

Unfortunately the cheddar jalapeño sausage was enjoyed so much that it didn’t make it to the leftovers.
