When I holidayed in Albania for the second time I found a stall at the “christmas market” with big sacks of pistachios from Iran under an opened one on display. Red pistachios. Only 14 euros a kilo! (Exchange rate a couple of years ago). I could only carry 5 kilos of them in my backpack so I got that much to take home.
I also checked Sicilian pistachios sold in supermarkets (an Italian chain), which were about 80 euros/kg.
At home I order Iranian pistachios from a specialist shop but it’s quite a bit more expensive than 14 euros/kg. My top 2 are macadamia and pistachio so yeah I pay that price or no nuts.
