The Big Fat Nostalgia Thread For All

Um, Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen right next to each other!!! I don’t even care what the movie is about… two of my favorite heartthrobs!

I’m well aware.

Now that I’m a grandparent, I’m loving this more than ever. If you’re not familiar with the series , play close attention to the voices

Dennis Farina as Lt, Mike Torello vs. Anthony Denison as Ray Luca. Stephen Lang as attorney David Abrams. David Caruso. Great cast all the way around. Good show/series.

I stumbled upon a kapsalon recipe.

I’m just seeing this thread years later (and haven’t read through the entire thing yet). But the video of Big Boy 4014 reminded me of Pat Metheny’s “Last Train Home”. Always loved this song, with the snare drum being the sound of the train moving on the tracks. Soothing.

I still go to supper clubs that serve a small buffet of apps/salads; relish trays and the like. Supper clubs bring me right back.

I love how the robot has some snide to his voice at times. "Yes, Doctor Smith. "

There’s always “He’s dead, Jim.”

Caught this on re-reading the thread. I don’t plan to be buried (I want to be composted), but if I were, I would want this as my epitaph.

So many great ‘blasts from the past’. I’ve read only a fraction of the comments and will digest a few every day.
Downtown Oakland/Berkeley of yore: Woolworth’s dime store lunch counter’s egg salad and thin Eggo brand potato chips, the Elmwood Pharmacy lunch counter (cherry or lime Cokes), Swanson’s fried chicken TV dinners when the babysitter came.

Mine would be: “The fat lady sang” or “I TOLD you I was sick”.

At a funeral I went to, on stepping out of my car I saw a headstone with my first name in big, block letters on it. I chuckled at it, but a few people I mentioned it to didn’t think it was funny!
