I was just thinking about grabbing some Suadero tacos from Cuantos.
That place looks amazing Have you tried their mushroom tacos?
Not yet. Soon.
This took WAY too long, but I finally made it to Cuantos. Whenever I crave tacos, the Cuantos truck will be my new destination. Everything is spectacular, but the suadero is beyond spectacular. The mushroom is the only choice that is spicy. They offer two salsas, a very mild green that works really well on carnitas or longaniza and a spicy dark red that is perfection on the suadero. At $2.75 each and with very prompt service, I could easily eat my way into a food coma and crash under the lovely shade trees.

I wish I visited Kansas City before I stopped travelling.
In-A-Tub just recently re-opened. They were closed after a truck crashed into their building in January, leaving the owner badly injured.
How awful. I’m glad the owner survived.
Up here in Ontario,we have been having more accidents due to shitty drivers not paying attention, crashing into buildings and hurting people lately, too. (I’m assuming that is what happened )
Here too in SF lately, one going 70 mph crashed into bus shelter killing a family of 4 then the other day a car jumped curb into a building in Chinatown hitting 2 pedestrians, killing 1.
Too many older people are confusing accelerator with brake. I think there should be reaction tests for all drivers when you renew licenses.
An inattentive middle-aged delivery driver hit a 7 yo crossing the road after getting off a schoolbus where I live in Canada about 15 months ago. Both the school bus driver and delivery driver have been charged.
There was also a terrible case north of Toronto where a 70 year old grandfather accidentally drove his electric Hyundai into the daycare when he was picking up his grandchild, killing someone else’s child and injuring staff and more toddlers. There is now a movement to prevent daycares from being located in strip plazas where a car could crash through the wall.
Most elderly drivers I know are very careful and avoid driving on busy roads, during rush hour, and at night. The Ministry of Transportation in Ontario and Ministries in other provinces encourage older drivers to get their errands done between 10 am and 2 pm, before rush hour.
I drive a lot, around 1200 miles per month. It’s a certain type of 25-40 yo driver who is typically the most aggressive and dangerous in my experience.
I avoid rush hour because I hate being stuck in traffic, I don’t like wasting gas. Being stuck in traffic makes some drivers do dumb things.
A lot of Redditors under 40 don’t consider the lives of others. (Can’t comment on other drivers under 40, since I don’t know what they have to say about driving in my region LOL. And Reddit draws out the worst ppl , and the worst in people)
I deleted Reddit partly because I couldn’t believe how hostile the under 40 Reddit drivers in my region are towards older people, on the topic of driving. The same Reddit drivers seem to think dangerous u turns are okay in traffic if there are no signs explicitly saying not to make a u turn. They do not understand keeping the roads safe for everyone should be the goal, not finding loopholes that make driving more dangerous for everyone.
I read something recently that the next generation will probably not be driving when they grow up. It will be self driving cars everywhere and although that sounds a bit scary it’s actually a lot safer and will get rid of all all the human error that occurs presently. We have friends that use their self driving option constantly and Waymo’s are all over Bay Area.
It is scary.
What’s interesting, is I have a car with lane detection and some automatic sensors, intended to prevent accidents. Every time I’m in a snowstorm or rain storm, when visibility is the poorest, these sensors stop working. I am on my own when it’s dangerous driving, and the sensors are useless. Thank God it’s easy to override them with the current vehicles.
I think whether self driving vehicles will work in a region really depends on the type of driving, type of drivers, and the terrain. There is no way I would trust a computer’s decision making with respect to roads and driving in rural Canada, rural Montana, Tuscany or Crete, off the top of my head. Human brains that are working are required.
Here in Florida they just proposed a mandatory driving test every 4 years after 75. My folks will gripe, but i see so many accidents caused by folks whose reaction time just isnt what it ought to be that Im not convinced its a bad idea.
My late FIL mistook drive for reverse and crashed into the liquor store ![]()
It made the local papers.
People 80 and over in Ontario have to do a test at the Ministry every 2 years to keep their license. This has been in place for around 12 years.
I know someone who is 89 going on 90, who recently decided on her own that she would give up driving, rather than continue to drive. I don’t blame her. There are a lot more aggressive and angry drivers than there were 3 years ago.
Where’s the chorizo?
Every time I drive around DeLand with my brothers, I get on them for never having tried one of the ubiquitous taco stands or Mexican markets. I finally put my foot down, and we organized a taco crawl of 8 joints, with one rule for inclusion: no table service.
The winning joint turned out to be a bakery that also serves Mexican food, in the nearby town of DeLeon Springs. They also have fabulous churros. The top three places all make fresh tortillas for each order. My brothers and I did a taco tour in deland fl.
I posted this elsewhere on the forum with a humorous photo comprised of political satire, self-reported the post and it was taken down so I guess this as good as any place to repost.
I was wondering where that thread went ![]()
Making notes on this one!
