Yes sir!
Essentially, in this episode, a descendant of Sicily
who’s never done drugs waxes rhapsodic about the TB Mexican Pizza in the ancient, better times.
Thanks for all the friendly comments. Never knew real life experiences were considered “satire”. Maybe I should lie and make up fiction. And just because something is “old” does not mean it is bad. So maybe people should stop passing down recipes. Better yet, using that logic, end all memory of the past. Destroy all TV, music, film, Titles, Deeds, and pictures of all that is a year old or more. Sounds like a wonderful world it would be. LOL
This all proves my first thought, so that is appreciated. I knew soon after I first started here on HO that no one currently posting here was on ChowHound on the thread started by HoundDogz about Taco Bell. I was there for years and never had responses like these from those posters on that board. Not once. So thanks for confirming. Not sure what boards you all wrote on, but it certainly was not “Taco Bell was great pre-90’s”.
Memory is fine.
Thinking that a corporation will or should change how they make their food because of individual posts on HO is quite another. But you can only continually harp about “how things used to be better when…” before it just becomes a Veruca Salt rant.
The foods you’ve listed in multiple threads tasted better to you in past years. That’s fine - lots of things change over the years - and yes, not always for the good. (New Coke is a perfect example. ENOUGH people said they weren’t going to drink it. And it went back to the original formula, and was rebranded as Coke Classic.)
But it’s their company; their decision to make those changes (financially as well as for marketing purposes). If the company is still making money doing things the new way (which they need to do for their shareholders), I’m pretty sure nothing’s going to change. While you might not like it, it is what it is. If you want to change it back to what you remember, buy it from the corporation and go back to the original way they made things.
There once was an olde bloke on H.O.,
who expressed luv for Mexican pizza so…
another bloke posted a thought,
about how to do what it was he could not.
But instead of him trying,
he listened to others who said frying,
so still a good pizza he has not.
If I could afford to by them out I most certainly would believe me. Then people will realize what they missed. But since I am not blessed enough to have that kind of money, I make my own Taco Bell and enjoy it immensely. Once I nail the wafers, I no longer need step into their doors. I am told by friends and family who try my home made Tex Mex at gatherings that I should market it, it is so good. But I don’t believe people deserve it. Because they like chemical laden facsimiles of real food. So let them eat cake as they say.
I remember my first trip to TB. I ordered an enchilada. Had never had refried beans before. My first taste was expecting meat and getting refried beans. I was 11. Not ready for that. Their tacos were popular, until it was a found out and employee was “treating” the taco meat with spices originating from bodily functions. Kinda hurt business. Can’t remember the last time I ate their stuff.
