I realize every little bit helps, but "20 cents off"on a $5 item is hardly enough to be called a sale.
it’s all words… sorta like that word “free”. some folks count down to the penny (especially exact changers like me), others to the nickel or dime, others don’t even notices quarters & start counting with bills. if something is offered at 20 cents less, sure i’ll take the discount whether it is called a “sale” or not.
Giant used to be a 24x7 operation. questionable . . .
the new teenage CEO made bunches of changes - and eliminated the 24x7 idea.
so now , , , restocking takes place during peak shopping hours.
add in the ‘grocery getters’ with mega-huge carts, , , blocking everything and everybody.
“moving stuff” in industry trash talk “resetting” . . is a constant problem.
hits me especially hard as my (self-programmed) shopping list utility . . .
when printed . . . sorts by aisle/location.
super-ultra aggravating when they move something I purchase/need at long intervals… I have to ‘go looking for it comma again…’
things I buy regularly that they change . . . I can edit my data base ‘immediately post trip.’
the individual shopper . . . not such a OMG! to me.
the 20-30 “grocery getters” with mega carts blocking the usual and customary shoppers from ‘shopping’ - yeah, that tweaks . . .
You do know that these folks shop for customers who — for one reason or another — hired someone to shop for them (and possibly deliver), curbside or home?
I see them every day at Giant and can’t say that their carts are any larger than the regular shopping carts the general population uses.
the carts they have here are minimum 150% width&length of the full size carts for “normal” customers.
somewhere I have a pix of the dairy aisle . . .
totally blocked by restocking carts and ‘grocery getters’ - as a peon customer, I could not access the aisle…
Exactly. They don’t have separate larger carts for “grocery getters”. Although I will admit to hating when the carts are left at the end of aisles at endcaps as the shoppers run down an aisle to find what their customer wants.
And Market Basket in New England has always restocked shelves during the regular shopping hours, including peak shopping hours on the weekends. It’s not fun, but you deal (including shopping at non-busy hours) because it helps keep prices low. MB then doesn’t have to pay employees to stock after hours.
That’s where they block the least amount of products and aisle space.
I know. But still makes for traffic jams in the main aisles if you’re trying to turn from one aisle into the next and other shoppers are filling their side of the aisle.
Yeah. When it’s busy I don’t think there’s an ideal solution as to where to leave them.
I try to use the baskets or the short carts whenever I can, just bc those SUV-sized ones drive me crazy trying to navigate. Sam’s Club’s are even worse, but we usually just grab a handful of items there!
Ugh. People wandering aimlessly round the store deciding where to go. Keep,it moving, people!!
The grocery store is the only place where some people get out to view and interact with humanity.
Trust me. These people were not interacting with anyone. They were just walking like they were tipsy and trying to figure out where to go next. But they’d walk normally then stop shore and turn or stop and stare.
My local Grocery Outlet also stocks during regular business hours. Doesn’t matter which day I go.

Yet another thin green plastic bag composted itself in the fridge. This one was wrapping a plum, so things didn’t get messy.
Ever notice this at a supermarket?
No, we just have the grazers, not feelers.
Feeling is one thing, mushing up a plum is another. If the plum is semi soft, you got good eats.
In walmart a few weeks ago, I got to see great parenting in action. The kid was walking down the bread aisle mushing in the ends of loaves of bread , in front of mom, who said nothing until she saw the employee turn down the aisle. THEN, she told the kid to desist. WTF
I just loathe not being able to find items on the shelf anymore that I would buy regularly.
Like Kern’s nectars. Red Oval stoned wheat crackers. Siljan’s Finn Crisp rounds. Del Monte sour dill pickle halves. Discontinued or available only on line. The list grows every week. Waaaah.
