Winterfeldtmarkt / Winterfeldtplatz / Schöneberg
My darling did sOmE rEsEaRcH this AM and found a more reliable website for “our” sourdough purveyor that we’ve not been able to track down so far. The site claimed that the stand sets up Saturdays at one of our favorite (and closest this year!) weekly markets, so we scooted over to find it.
The market is located in Schöneberg, which is basically the Castro of Berlin — gay as gay can be, with lots of bars, restaurants, interior design stores & fashion, etc.
The crowd at the market is a nice mix of young and old, hip and not-so-hip (like we), gay and straight, and the most popular market stands have been around forever & have long lines.
We noticed a lot more prepared foods & food trucks than in previous years, and I took a few pics of the selection:
The ever-popular pasteis de nata
Köfte stand
Bulgur köfte with meat & vegan köfte
Who doesn’t like a good … mystery chicken?
More food for the hungry
Ditto
Fresh pasta and many different pesto variations. Next time!
Our favorite fish griller was SOLD OUT by 1pm, but thankfully we weren’t particularly hungry.
I’d picked up some white gold (tis the season!),
potatoes & parsley, but after walking through the aisles, we still hadn’t found the bread And then we did! Praise be!
We also picked up some lovely Vacherousse at a very appetizing cheese stand.
I did not know Viet knives were a thing.
It’s a fab place to visit, even if you don’t live here.
