Bobcats! We have one, sometimes two, that range in our yard. We call them “Bob” and “Baby Bob.” So there’s that.

Next you’ll be telling me that most tomcats and tom turkeys aren’t named tom.

And that the wire was not invented by Bob…

Isn’t it Barb who didn’t invent the wire?

In some English accents “bobwire” is a fine way to pronounce it.

Bob’s wife, perhaps?

Oh, absolutely. Most speakers of American Hillbilly say it ‘bobwire’. Or maybe more like ‘bobwaar’.

Stop maligning part of my family! :joy:. When I was a little kid, I thought there were two separate words for those things on your forehead above your eyes. The first was “eyebrow”. The second was “eyebriar” which is how my mother, a flower of the Deep South, pronounced it. She was very smart to not lose the accent. It let her get away with murder in yankee country. :joy::joy::joy:

In your family, it might have been bowbwahr, or maybe bowbwair. In my NYC area, it might have been bahbwayah. Accents are cool, no maligning at all.

I kid, I kid. !!! Yay for all accents, especially the ones I’ve struggled not to adapt. 2 weeks in any place, and I start sounding like a resident.

Well, bless our hearts!

Are you twisting yourself into knots to avoid crediting a woman?

In Yankee land you may hear Barb Dwyer*

I went to school with her, I think. She had a sharp wit.
