Why I don’t read them.

Nice… but it’s champing (not chomping) at the bit. (I recognize that you’re just the delivery guy)

Onward!

Those are exactly the states I visited when I first visited the US in 97 :upside_down_face:

It is amazing how much of a “must see” Syracuse, Sacramento and Tampa are to Europeans.

“I’m visiting California! I figure I’ll stay in Santa Barbara, go to Disneyland in the morning, then the Monterey Aquarium in the afternoon. The next day I want do wine tasting in the Napa Valley.”

Ahem. While some of the distances in the US might be difficult to fathom for many Europeans, I’d wager a guess that they’re far more educated about the geography of the US than vice versa.

I’d like to mention a former Fulbright (!) scholar in this context, who said they really enjoyed the northern German town of Copenhagen, as well as Germany’s south, Vienna in particular.

Oh absolutely. As far as most of America is concerned, ‘Europe’ = England, France, Germany, and Italy. Russia is a separate thing. Asia = China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. India is a separate thing. We’ve heard of Tokyo, London, Paris, Rome, and Berlin. We imagine the latter four can all be visited via car in a day or two.

Yeah… and?

When our exchange student’s family visited the US (prior to her becoming our exchange student), their literal itinerary for their last day was this: Drive from LA (they had visited Disneyland the day prior) to San Francisco by way of Santa Barbara, then make a quick stop in Yosemite en route back to LAX to catch their flight home. All in one day. Could it be done? Yeah, it can. Considering traffic and gas stops, I imagine it’d take at least 20 hours. Not getting a lot of sightseeing done, though.

I don’t recall who talked them out of it, but I think it may have been hotel staff when they asked for help choosing a route.

Was this before the invention of the internet? Seems pretty easy to google distances for any travel plans in advance.

I had to delete the previous post because the TikTok links autoplayed, and persisted even when I left the topic. It was about this Scotsman’s strong opinions on various foods.
