Wait, what?
You had Domino’s in elementary school?
What universe did you go to school in?

My mother, a follower of Gaylord Howser (“You Are What You Eat”), sent me with grated carrot salad on Roman Meal bread sandwiches. Try trading those! No wonder I’m weird.
No offense but I believe Greg is a lot younger than some of us older folks. Keep that in mind.
Seriously?!!! Wow. Sign me up.
My mother bought Roman Meal and Hollywood Diet bread for our sandwiches. Naturally all we wanted was Wonder Bread - no way!
We had the option of orange juice or white milk. Occasionally chocolate milk like once a month
I was the only kid taking white milk. Everyone else wanted oj
I have seen Strawberry Quik in stores. I’ve only had it once; am allergic to one of the ingredients. This orange milk people are speaking of though…
I know, like real lox on Noah’s bagels? Berkeley?
I’m always surprised at how many people my age had cafeterias in their elementary schools. We had none. Brought a bag lunch, and that was lunch. for one year I ate mayonnaise sandwiches. White bread and mayo, that was it. Gulp down and apple or banana with it, homemade cookie for dessert, there ya go.
My first grade was in a “annex” school - an old 4 room schoolhouse without a cafeteria. (Boomer overcrowding was pretty much the standard in all school districts). So I had a little plaid metal lunchbox that I carried for a year.
I’m surprised that wasn’t a thing! Was your school small/ rural,?
I think federal law now requires that schools provide lunch (and breakfast), at least to students from low income families.
OMG, I remember Roman Meal bread! My mother used to buy it as well.
I remember Roman Meal for hot cereal late in my high school years.
My mother was obsessed with weight - hers and mine- and I’m assuming she thought these would be “healthier”!
I did a little viewing of the school lunch menus in my former stompin’ grounds. Lotsa pasta dishes w/o meat, lotsa burritos and tacos w/o meat and ‘chopped’ salads with choice of dressing.
Vegan and gluten free options, too!
I DID NOT see any reference to peanut products; whether they are omitted, limited or in any item.
I’m sorry.
AIR, Roman Meal cereal was rather good. At least my taste memory of it says that I’d like it now if not back then. Actually, probably true of the bread also. We’ve never had a loaf of Wonder Bread in our adult house. I guess Mom got her final say. As the twig is bent…
Never tried it, so I have no idea. I would hope so.
Our white bread was Kilpatrick’s in the blue gingham check wrapper. So soft and it made the best toast with butter and local clover honey.
