I was at Lucky’s (Albertson’s) and picked up some John Morrell braunschweiger. Picked it over Jones for pricing, value, (haha)
BTW, I checked it with the Yuka app, to check general healthiness. Yuka App It got a 0/100….bottom of the barrel. Perhaps I should have bought the Jones, which was 8 oz. vs. 16 oz. I’ll have to post something about the Yuka app. My sister uses it and suggested. I find it helpful to avoid unhealthy food and generally it’s good, with sodium and additives being key to a good or bad rating. Over 50/100 is usually rated “good”.
I think I”m going to freeze some of the braunschweiger.
Thank you for doing the math for me! My late father was an accountant and was always unhappy that I am bad at math, That being said, I am the ONLY member of my immediate family that has ANY ability to speak (read & write, too) a foreign language (Japanese).
we have a very local Aldi, and a not-so-local Lidl.
Aldi - here - has turned into a simply cut rate grocery store. very little authentic German items.
my take: Lidl has a lot more domestic and import German ‘stuff’ - along with cheeses from everywhere. the domestic brands are less of the big name stuff and more ‘artisan’ type products.
Aldi is the only affordable grocery store that isn’t a big box chain in my neck of the woods… It’s been over ten years since I had a local Whole Foods or TJs so I am happy to have it . Too bad about the liverwurst!
Kroger braunschweiger, red onion, wholegrain mustard on marble rye. Yes it’s salty. I think I usually buy John Morrell, I also don’t remember it being salty.
Friends of mine ( a couple-now both gone) would make sure we called each other on May 23 and we would sing this.
