The ones in Chicago are brick and mortar, the one in Pasadena appears to be inside a supermarket. Haven’t been to any but I remember reading about it in the Chicago press when they first opened. I do remember that several national restaurant chains did open virtual restaurants during the pandemic serving chicken wings, I think Chili’s was the biggest one but also Applebee’s, Olive Garden and Chuck E Cheese come to mind.
Went to one once in T.O in the early 2000’s, didn’t understand the attraction when there were so many “world class” strip clubs close by.
There used to be a similar style restaurant, I think it was called “Tilted Kilt”, it appears most of them have closed.
For the record, I never went to a “Tilted Kilt”, either; but I vaguely remember passing it, as it was on a main surface street (that I traveled from time to time).
I do remember thinking to myself – “Oh this is a ‘Hooters’ copycat bar, I wonder how long they will stay in business”
There’s also “Twin Peaks”. There’s actually one here in town, though I have never been inside. I do, however, get a fair bit of amusement thinking of some poor David Lynch fanboy like myself accidentally wandering in hoping to find black coffee, cherry pie, Angelo Badalamenti on the jukebox and waitresses dressed like Madchen Amick. It doesn’t help that the decor is “vaguely pacific northwest hunting lodge” with lots of exposed timber, lumberjack paraphernalia, and flannel “shirts” for the waitresses…
I find it a little sad that “breastaurant” is an actual thing. Like, that word was coined to accurately describe a whole CATEGORY of things that didn’t exist, but do now, enough to need their own special portmanteau.
We clearly deserve vaguely gestures to everything…
GIANT METEOR 2028!!
There’s an upscale Croatian seafood restaurant in Toronto called Joso’s which is filled with art featuring lots and lots of breasts.
Really good seafood, risotto and pasta.
The only things it has in common with Hooters is the breast theme and the fact it’s a restaurant.
I am always on the lookout for Croatian restaurants but the menu looks more Italian with some vaguely Croatian influences
It’s the only upscale Croatian seafood restaurant in Toronto. It’s located on the edge of Yorkville, and most of the clients are non Croatian.
The pasta sauces taste like they were made by a Croatian, a Serb or a maybe a Greek, due to the choice of herbs and the heavier hand with the lemon.
The sauces don’t taste Italian. I really like their spaghetti Leonardo with octopus and shrimp.
There are at least half a dozen midrange Croatian restaurants focused on meat on the west side of the city. That’s where the Croatian community is centred.
Croatian and Serbian cuisine (and flavors) are quite different
Okay.
Theyre opening a Twin Peaks near me. Ive never heard a good thing about the food or the service, so I probably wont go because of that.
I absolutely would not out Buffalo Wild Wings or Wing House in the breastaurant category. Theyre just sports bars with nothing else. The Buffalo Wild Wings uniform near me is a baggy black polo and jeans…about as unsecksy as you can get.
Wing House started in the Tampa area, too. They tried early on to be like Hooters, but they’ve been a dive/sports bar for most of their existence.
Is that a dive bar, or just a dive?
Not that there’s a huge difference…its just kind of a dive-y vibe. Cheap beer, decent wings, a 40-something waitress who recognizes you when you come through the door.
Unpretentious and comfortable, but definitely not the shtick of Hooters
