Readability aside, pardon my ignorance, but what is “lobster guacamole “?
Is that closer, assuming we’re talking about BJ?
Do we really wanna know? It would be a worthy entry for this thread
Helvetica, which even has a documentary, you iconoclast, you!
I just dared google. Evidently it’s just guacamole garnished with lobster meat. I had terrifying thoughts of perfect, beautiful lobster meat being pulverized into avocado guacamole …
I would have never envisioned the two together. And yes, the thought of lobster pounded into mush is terrifying……something like what happens if you order lobster ravioli in a restaurant, except that there is no identifiable taste of lobster.
I actually think that would be quite good.
Lobster mousse mixed with smashed avocado.
I mean, why not.
Can likewise confirm: guac garnished with pieces of lobster. Video posted on Facebook shows the dish.
I actually like making this myself when we’re on vacation in Maine if I have a few bits of steamed lobster left from preparing another dish. The buttery taste of the avocado, a touch of chile pepper, and lime juice (maybe garnished with super fresh corn cut off the cob) complement the lobster.
I guess I could see that combo, now that I think about it. I love the combo of shellfish and avocado. The guac would def have to be on the chunky side, tho.
Combinations of shellfish and avocado, as long as neither is mushed to a pulp, are very appealing to me. Scallops, shrimp, crab, lobster.
My favorite gazpacho involves garnishes of avocado with lobster and/or shrimp and/or crab.
Same for risotto or paella with those garnishes. Salads in various combinations as well.
I like shellfish and avocado, but both have to be in pieces. Avocado stuffed with shrimp salad hits the spot. But if we are talking about baby food consistency, nope.
The shrimp & avocado sub at Subway in Japan the 5th most popular out of 28 types of subs on the menu. A 6 inch costs ¥649/USD $4.42 and a footlong costs ¥1133/USD $7.72 (including tax). Subway is considerably better in Japan than the US and in addition that, I’ve never seen any other submarine sandwiches anywhere else in Japan. But do beware that as in most fast food places, the sandwich won’t likely look this good when ordered.
I also wish these designers would take the understanding that many of us are color blind and really can’t read frog green brint, or yellow print. Black on white or vice versa, or I’ll be asking the unfortunate wait staff lots of questions, which I find embarrassing.
Still, I down that thing faster than a dipped Chi hot beef.
Bad menu design, though. How dah hell do you expect me to read Japanese?!
I worked in a Japanese restaurant that had a sign that read in English, “We do not accept checks.” Underneath that, it basically said in Japanese, “Unless you can read this.”
LOL! Love that stuff.
It’s fine by me as well.
This looks like someone discovered the Center alignment button in their Word application and just went to town with it. Ugh – random wrapping of text in odd places and then the all bold font.
Now I would enjoy eating there ! Thank you.
In all fairness people look for ways to cut costs - i.e. hiring a professional who most likely would not use a typeface in the serif category which appeals to some people. Me, i prefer a sans serif - absence of tails, curlicues - typeface that lends itself to be read easily and is attractive, easier on ones eyes IMHO.
I disagree with you about boring old Ariel font, but like you, I get very annoyed with hard to read fonts. As a photographer at a teaching hospital I used to make a lot of 35mm slides of typed material back before the days of computers. It’s a fact that there was NEVER anything typed with the Orator font that produced an even strike on a page without missing little spots. Ever. Then the customer would come back and complain about the quality of the output, so we would show them the reality of the garbage-in-garbage-out process. Decades later it still triggers me, I realized as I felt annoyance upthread reading that somebody mentioned the Orator font upthread. It’s been decades and it still gets to me. I’d have had to lecture somebody about the font on this menu, too- the letters are mushy and the serifs are really in the way. And the spacing I won’t even get into- makes me want to swear.
