I doubt whether anyone travelling through America could fail to notice, appreciate and enjoy its size and diversity. It is the country I visit that I find most “foreign” to me, even allowing for the fact that we speak the same language.
By contrast, I live on a small cold island off the coast of mainland Europe. It’s not as big as Kansas, with a population 1/5th that of America and none of us live more than 75 miles from the coast.
