I was thinking about that too. From information and content angle, FTC need HO more.
However, FTC is an active site now. We have a lot of readers, but not a lot of people actively participate. From that angle, HO may fold under FTC.

Just visited Food Talk Central. My. There seems to be much more hurt feeling (from CHOWHOUND) than here.
Just IMO, I’d rather be with folks talking about food than about CH. It’s over, they’re not that into us, on to the next thing, which is off to a very good start.
Hat’s off to Robert, too, though for taking so much initiative too, filling the void.
Hiya, ChemicalK! When I joined FTC, I thought the same as you did about the site being focussed on the west coast. But as more and more ex-'hounds join, that profile is changing. There are regional boards for Philly and the 'burbs as well as for Delaware. Like you, I hope the two sites can become one.
That might be because FTC was established because there were so many disgruntled 'hounds. FTC was a place to blow off steam without getting banned.
I hope it happens sooner rather than later.
I can see pros and cons for combining early.
The good things about combining early are to (a) significantly increase the total participants, (b) contents, © excitement and (d) giving a serious alternative to Chowhound.
The advantage of combining later are to (a) let the two sites develop their own identities and express themselves, (b) let people have more alternatives, © give the two sites enough time to come together. If two sites combine too early, then it can cause internal strife – basically backfire.

Where are we as a group going to be say 3 months from now?

www.hungryonion.org ?
This is from CH (I still haven’t figured out how to shade my posts OH, it shades automagically . . . nice.
Of course it will be removed; but since it’s Sunday afternoon in SF, it may have a few hours of life.
Nope, already gone. I guess they’re working 24/7 these days.
They took down the two posts I made today that mentioned Hungry Onion (one in Restaurants & Bars and one in Home Cooking.) They were up a while though.
Ditto. I posted a mention of HO a few hours ago, and it was gone “lickety” split… pun intended.
New joint - Same geeks. Cool.
mcf let me in on the secret handshake. Hope you guys have rum.
Glad the speakeasy grill opened right up for you.
I’ve been spreading it all over the place!!
Edit…Just to make myself clear, I have been spreading the WORD all over the place
Have you written it all over the bathroom walls?
"For a good time, please type 'HungryOnion.org"
Please type WWW.hungryonion.org so we get moved up in web searches. Thangyouverymush.
Yeah. Googling “Hungry Onion” results in a small restaurant chain in Idaho.
Yes, the last two weeks search engines actually penalized the search ranking because
all go to the same site so they lowered the ranking because they thought there were 4 sites trying to game the search ranking.
i got the last 2 solved today. Now I just need to figure out the redirect from hungryonion.org to www.hungryonion.org
Fun times.
Not yet. Didnt want to step on your toes
