I can think of nothing better to do while eating dinner than reviewing pictures of previous dinners showing me & others taking pictures of those dinners. Ahh… good times.
I think that picture tells the story of who goes to and enjoys food halls/public markets (and breweries/wine tasting places that offer food). It’s definitely a younger crowd and I think it’s a growing market. Two or three new places opening up in my very beautiful and very touristy town.
Absolutely correct. My issue isn’t that this will take customers like myself, but that it will attract too many good chefs, who are having trouble finding real estate and staff to open or maintain the types of places more traditional eaters want to have around. Chefs exactly like Chef Cachot.
Seems like what restaurant owners/chef’s here are doing is establishing a reputation for good food and then expanding into other markets. Assuming that is an lucrative economic decision. One of our favorite spots in the public market here has just opened another restaurant plus working on two more to be located in other SoCal towns nearby. We have 6 or seven Michelin bib places (including very casual) plus at least one or two Michelin starred restaurants. High end still seems to be doing well although everyone is recovering from the Covid years although our town probably got busier with tourists in 2021 who would still get in their car to vacation, but hesitant to fly.
