Eels has been on my list of places to try for a few years now, but for one reason or another, we never made it before. We finally went for a weeknight dinner mid-May.
I had the signature lightly smoked eel starter. It’s presented differently than in @naf’s picture 7 years ago, but I suspect the flavors are pretty much the same. Why mess with excellence? Good enough to be alone worth coming back for every so often.
My wife’s white asparagus had a very interesting lemon and mint sabayon.
She really enjoyed her monkfish with spring veggies and a butter sauce with strawberry vinaigrette.
I liked my pork loin with fennel and onions even more than the fish. Sadly, I forgot to snap a picture
Neither of us was in the mood for dessert that night, so I have no comments there.
Prices were neither high nor bargain.
Eels now has a place in our rotation, even if not quite at “must return every year” level.
