[Osaka, Japan] épais- tonkatsu specialist with a large collection of sprinkling sea salt

One of the things I wanted to eat in Osaka is Tonkatsu. épais is a very popular local tonkatsu specialist that has a few locations around time, and serve many specialty pork breed from around Japan.

Took a while to wait for a table, but since we were inside the Hanshin department store, we just passed by windows shopping.

The various source of pork and cuts available:

The mounds of lettuce waiting for customers in each order:

One of the most interesting aspect of épais was they had a salt menu, and we could pick a large variety of salt to sprinkle on top of our tonkatsu:

I jumped at the chance to try some salt that I haven’t seen before. Salt from Christmas Island and Okinawa.

Also available, various type of sauce for the tonkatsu:

How did the tonkatsu taste? We got a variety of pork and cuts. Some regular, some more premium. To be honest, they all tasted great. And I couldn’t really do a good job of differentiating the more premium pork from the merely ‘regular’ ones. All perfectly cooked, juicy and tender inside.

The Umeda station area is a maze of underground malls and tunnels all interconnected.

Does anyone know how to eat this vegetable from Tokushima?
