Ontario coffee roasters

More of a light roast person and drink mostly pour over. Only buy from Hatch these days. I do buy some of their medium roast like Supernova or Blackout for espresso also

Thank you! Will check out Hatch for those.

I don’t have a lot to add to the above discussion. As jammy notes above, coffee flavour degrades fairly quickly after the roast date. For lighter roasts, I often buy from Pilot. Currently I have a bag from De Mello. I have also bought from Hale, which leans a bit darker.

A surprisingly good supermarket option is Longo’s, at the Laird location at very least. They roast their own on site and I can often get beans roasted within a day or two. They offer medium roast (which is darker than the darker roasts for Pilot and De Mello), a dark roast, and an in-between “City” roast for a select bunch of fair-trade, mainly organic, beans.

While we’re on this subject, where do people buy green coffee beans for roasting at home. I used to get them from Merchants of Green Coffee, but then they closed. I haven’t tried figuring out a new source because of laziness.

Oops I accidentally deleted my reply. I’ll try to repost from memory

Thank you for the heads up about Longo’s.

Mofer has green beans if you’re a fan of Ethiopian. I only really enjoy when prepared for the coffee ceremony. Im sure I e seen elsewhere online but can’t remember which roaster.

I’m searching for another source, as well. I used to get green beans from Copan Trade, but tariffs have increased their prices and they don’t consistently stock our preferred beans (Panama and Haiti). Idrinkcoffee.com has green beans, but they are also on the pricier side and they don’t offer bulk discounts. If I find a good supplier, I’ll post. Do you have a preference for beans from a particular area?

Thanks. I like beans from all areas. I’ll change up what I’m drinking fairly frequently because of this.

In addition to roasters, I also shop by searching for specific beans or specific coffee producers …
I always stock up at home 1-2 bags of regular “classic” ones and 1-2 bags of funky ones to change things up. I do mostly pour over than the espresso based coffee.
Unfortunately, I’ve had some poorly roasted beans from a few “popular” roasters.
