Overall I found it a pretty shallow article. Didn’t dig into the problems much at all.
I recently discovered that the back panel to the little countertop pebble ice maker I got as a gift 5-6 years ago still had that film on it! I had removed it from the front and sides but apparently missed the back initially.
It’s almost as good as finding cash in the pocket of a coat you put away last season.
I love that sound.
I think the rage is due to the current economy and related BS. Yes, it’s a bit of a release but it’s misplaced…bigger fish to fry but concentrate on something that REALLY ticks you off like a kitchen. FYI : institutions are there to maintain the status quo. How it does so, often isn’t apparent. NYT is the definition of institution.
I don’t think they want to dig into problems, they just want people to click, and buy whatever they advertise.
TorontoLife has been increasingly vapid like that, over the past 15 years.
. . . . and yet Julia Childs had kitchen walls hung with copper, , , ,
and no rage . . .
Did she order a lot of DoorDash?
Other than McDonald’s fries I don’t think Julia is known for eating a lot of takeout…
Are we looking for criticisms of Julia now? Because there are plenty. Though, unlike the subject of this NY Times paean to elitism, she was a fairly active home cook.
it would make more sense if you read the thread.
I’m pretty sure Julia used her copper pots and pans. I’ve watched her use them on TV many times.
or if it was a clever insight
Right? I’m really confused how JC came up in this discussion. An actual cook, and arguably one of the more influential ones in this country vs. some wealthy dude who sucks at basic adulting — or excels at it, depending on which camp one is in ![]()
Yeah - I have a friend who is a designer …
It exhausts me just to think about it.
