West Virginia is interesting, but the Dakota’s are the most surprising naming story to me.
That reminds me I don’t like hair in my food, split or otherwise
All of my Native American friends call themselves Indians and all of my African American friends call themselves Black. I am blessed with more than a handful from both groups. I imagine there’s a lot of variability though as both groups have a great degree of diversity of thought and preferences within their ranks.
We are all one human family. Reminding myself of this helps me cut distant family members some slack and to be offended less often.
Actually, around here (NJ), it’s “South Asian”, which includes Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and I suppose Sri Lankan.
Would make a nice addition to that famous Ralph Waldo Emerson quote :
“To laugh often and much:
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children,
to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you lived. This is to have succeeded.”
Detroit style pizza is bona fide amazing. There was a time we were making it regularly in our house and had to stop because everyone was gaining weight.
Yes, it’s all just a hypothesis. And as such is worthless as it’s basically my best guess; no data to support any of it.
Would you include in that Indians from the West Indies?
You might not have finished reading (or missed the point).
Guess I missed the point!
That poor, poor horse. RIP, eventually.
Ok, I get it!
Falafel pizza is apparently available somewhere in Flushing, NYC. Or was it Forest Hills?
Oh, it was Kew Garden Hills.
Anyway, here’s one of my favorite pizza combos, the aforementioned eggplant + shrimp (+ mushroom):
That look fantastic. What are the seasonings/spices? Lotsa garlic?
If this was the “what’s on your mind thread” I’d be wondering how this thread turned into unusual pizza combos
That’s my favorite place (thus far) in the NYC metro area (in this pizza-related case, metro area is loosely defined as everywhere in the U.S. except Morton Grove, Illinois and New Haven, CT ).
No extra spices/condiments were needed.
There were arguments about my topical comments re: getting other toppings added onto the pizza. I threw in the photo because A) it’s a food-related website, and B) why the hell not?
Just a thought. not a criticism . . . thread drift is one of my favorite HO features.
Like with a good horror movie, I can’t look away.
