I wish I knew about these places the last time I drove through Chicago. It’s been 23 years since my last visit.
They’re fun, but a lot of Wrigleyville feels like a theme-park version of what I remember as a kid in the 70’s/80’s.
If you’re in Chicago with limited time and you’ve never been, the Art Institute is an absolutely world class institution, right up there with The Met (though it’s been a good 40+ years since I was at The Met). Whatever your tastes, they likely have a really good sampling of it. I particularly like their architecture stuff.
I lived in Spain for two years and I love tapas.
I eat “small plates” a lot in restaurants.
I don’t understand “Asian tapas”, “Japanese tapas”, or “French tapas” or “Italian tapas.”
I’ve never tried to order a “panino” but I am tempted.
I make “Spanish French toast” for breakfast on special occasions at home. I first met this delicious dish as torrijas when I lived in Spain decades ago. The older and younger adult males that live here have now heard it as “torrijas” often enough that that’s what we are calling it from now on.
I’ve never seen the dish in a restaurant where we live, in Boston.
I get this question all the time, because I eat rather slowly.
My answer is “no, I am still enjoying it.”
You reminded me of dh’s pet peeve- “is everything tasting delicious?”. Presume much?
I also love it when I order something and the server says “excellent choice!”
Why, thanks. So relieved to have your blessings
But let’s not forget that a LOT of restaurants train their waitstaff to use particular phrases, so the blame’s not necessarily on them.
Or verbal tics. Only need to think about how often in a presentation someone asks a question only to be told that’s a great question. In fact almost every time in recent memory.
The late and actual Ditka’s was a steakhouse, not the skit’s sports bar.
One that I’ve heard a lot is the waiter/waitress coming by soon after serving the meal and asking, “How are the first few bites?”
Next to last stop (which was Randolph St) on the IC from Hyde Park. When I hear “One Toke Over The Line” played, for some reason the Art Institute train station always pops into my mind. And all I ever had there was a hot dog.
Is Murphy’s the building with the bleachers on its roof to peek into Wrigley Field? The website kind of hints that it is. I always wanted to visit that bar during a game.
I only went to Wrigley once, sat in the cheap seats and listened to Sammy Sosa shoot the breeze with long time fans he knew by name. I always liked him after that.
Top Chef Season 22, Episode 7 is all about pizza, including on that is a riff on a scallion pancake as the crust.
Oh, how precious.
The rooftop might be leased from a neighboring building. Murphy’s itself is street level on the corner behind center field.
I wonder where the line is between “riff” and “different thing altogether.” Was there cheese and tomato involved?
Freakin’ outrageous !!
No; lamb and cumin IIRC

So, not remotely pizza.
Do you consider a “white pizza” not pizza?
