I totally forgot I went to Lanzhou Noodles three years ago. We had noodles from them in the last 2 months, both times takeout.
Spicy Lanzhou beef noodle. What a difference three years make. It was very nice. Broth was nicely seasoned with a light hint of herbs. Saved the broth for my own home cooked noodles later. Each bowl of noodle had about 6 slices of beef. Not tough any more. Good quality meat that’s nicely cooked. Noodle was properly cooked, even though takeout inevitably degraded the noodles a bit. A dallop of chili oil was essential.

Lamb noodle soup. Also pretty nice. A bit gamey if that matters. Lamb based clear broth. Though of course, the namesake noodle was the reason to go.
Wife, who picked up the food, said they were doing a brisk takeout business. Not a surprise given the flavor now versus 3 years ago when it was sparse for a Saturday night.
