13 Oak in Rockland opened last year in the old Cafe Miranda space. They did a nice renovation but kept the old wood-fired oven. Indoor and outdoor seating. Dinner M-F. Reservations a must.
I had dinner there earlier this week with a friend and we were both very happy. I had pork chop with mustard jus over cheddar mashed with roasted broccolini - you may not be able to tell but it was a vast serving and I took at least half home for a second meal. My friend had scallops over risotto that had a huge amount of chanterelles. It looked wonderful. I had a glass of very good Malbec and she had some sort of mezcal cocktail. Service was very pleasant. We were inside and it got a bit loud but not hard to talk. Recommend.
Honey’s Fried Chicken Palace in Rockland has a Tuesday special: 10% off on Chicken Tendies (Chicken Tendies Tuesdays). This was an unexpected bonus when I stopped in today. They are very good.
Good to know- will keep this on our radar. We usually do one 4 day sailing trip per season on the Stephen Taber which docks in Rockland and we’re always looking for a dinner on our boarding night. However- M-F dinner seems a little odd, no?
Really awful photos from a lovely dinner at Franny’s in Camden with a friend. I had steak frites with a grilled Caesar salad - so good although not a fan of that style of frites. She had halibut with roasted peaches, fingerlings and asparagus with some kind of buerre blanc which she loved. They have a lot of outside seating and very nice, very comfortable indoor seating and you can specify when you reserve. We were inside but next to a window looking onto the patio so kind of best of both worlds.
