Meals on Planes

Umm, yeah. Auto fill went with noir instead of Gris.

JFK Delta One lounge.

Headed back home on an early morning flight. I would think they could replace the hard thin pieces of plywood in the wrapper package with a Lender’s style bagel. I tried a taste of the purple yogurt. Not to my liking. Nasty in fact. Simple Greek in plain would have been better. The melon was surprisingly ripe.

Half an hour before landing the flight attendant came around with warm chocolate chip cookies. What remained.

Anyone here flown with this airline?

No Lines, No ‘Regular’ People: Flying Ultra-Luxury From Paris

(gift link, natch)

That looks extremely nice. $10k for a one way fare, apparently - which is actually not too much more than I’ve seen quoted for a BA first class fare. But in either case I can find far, far better things to do with that much once on the ground.

This seems like it’s one specific route to Paris from NYC? Once you’ve done a few long hauls to Asia (or Australia, Hawaii), 6-7 hours seems quite tolerable by comparison. This seems to be an excess for what I would consider a reasonable flight time from the East Coast. Give this to me for 8+ and we’re talking.

I believe the excess is the point.

From an experience sure – but not from the money perspective.

I don’t think the focus group for this experience would even blink at that price tag.

But even price tag aside, why not just buy your plane and fly your private jet then? I mean commercial is for the poor.

Hmmmm, I wonder if this is only JFK to Paris, my next flight over will likely be to Nice. Such a shame, sounds lovely. hahahaha

Edit: a quick search, they will be starting this service between Boston and Paris in July . . . still a connection. hahahaha

Well…the founder of the company I work for is worth just shy of a billion and tells me that it’s a waste of money to buy a jet. He does indeed fly private, but he says it’s “only” $10,000 an hour, and that mathematically he would have to fly way more than he does for ownership to be worth it. So, there you have it.

Air France? Yes several times. Though that’s not the question I think you meant to ask.

Then why not answer the one you thought I shoulda asked?

No, I’ve not flown in La Premiere class. It’s not different than what the high end private cabins are like on several airlines. A buddy of mine has gone to the Middle East in one of the cabins that has a private shower. Makes Air France look not so posh. The most I have sprung for is Delta One.
