I enjoy any reference to George Orwell!!
Well, for one it’s plain and simple: people like different things. I think it’s partly nostalgia, but we also all know that their food has been lab-engineered over decades to hit all the sweet spots in our lizard brains: fat, salt, sweet, those squishy buns — perhaps reminiscent of those crustless breads kids prefer?
Also, McD’s is everywhere, so convenience is likely a huge factor.
Then there are those who turn some of their items into a cult, i..e the Mc"Rib" or the FoF, and the apparent joy of one-upping one another by who can put the most stuff between two buns, another very child-like thing that probably brings peeps comfort. I dunno ![]()
As long as nobody forces me to eat that ish, I really don’t care ![]()
I find their filet o’ fish tasty, but it’s also relative to what’s available on their menu. I don’t choose filet o’fish over other options or better menus when I can, or unless I’m in a rush. The only time I have a craving is because I also don’t have something else decent I can readily eat.
I mentioned in an older reply that areas with a high Asian population (Chinese immigrants in particular), they seem to favor the filet o’fish and so you might see better results in those stores. If you have such a MickeyD’s in your area, get the FoF there. I’ve never had one soggy.
