I usually tell people that the “h” in my name aspirates the “b” before it, not because I expect them to make that sound (not easy if you haven’t grown up with it) but otherwise when they write my name down, the “h” gets placed more or less at random. In Portuguese “h” is silent. But if you are spelling out letters, it’s not said “aitch”, but “ahah”. And X is “sheesh”.

There will also be the geographical differences in the UK as to how the letter “a” is often pronounced.

Northerners, like me, have a short, hard pronunciation, whereas many southerners have a softer, longer pronunciation. So, you might have me pronouncing “glass”, pretty much as it’s spelt, but a Londoner might well pronounce it “glarse”.
