Lenten Fish Fry Suppers

Not gonna happen in PA. Booze laws are still hella weird here. Also, having to show up at 4pm like some 85yr old is not very appealing, and any later than that those places are a fucking zoo.

We do have a few local restaurants that do a great job with fish & chips, so maybe I’ll just get my fix there. No lent needed for me to enjoy at a reasonable dining hour, and I won’t miss the stewed tomatoes, either

Too bad about wacky Pennsylvania liquor laws.

TBH I find the early dining hours far more off-putting than the lack of liquor. I don’t need alcohol to have a good time hahahahahahahaha.

No, but srsly I most often have water with dinner.

I was always amazed how early wedding receptions end in the Pittsburgh area. Most of the Pittsburgh weddings were Catholic weddings, a few were Italian Catholic weddings, others were more Serbian, Polish or German with a dash of Irish, and a few were more white bread Protestant. I was often back at the hotel by 10 pm, sometimes it’s even been an afternoon reception and it’s over by 5 pm.

I think it’s probably because of the liquor laws.

The afternoon receptions were probably held in the afternoon to save money, keep things simple, and not have a liquor bill.

Most wedding receptions I have been to in Ontario go until at least midnight, and the receptions in Saskatchewan often go until 2 am.
