Over the last year the number of late night taco stands in the Mission has quite significantly dropped and a number of places have closed down. One of the few remaining ones is El Gran Trompo Regio https://elgrantromporegio.com And even they have less offerings than in previously. Last night it was just al pastor. Good tacos with plenty of meat

Any guess why? Fewer people want to go out?

I think the number of people going out hasn’t changed too much over the last year (just visually it might even have increased) but I heard that many vendors see it as too risky with the current immigration enforcements in general and don’t want to take any risk. Some late night taco places in San Jose have also changed and moved into residential areas where they are less exposed

Quick very late night dinner after a long drive at a Sausage/Taco truck (Vanessa’s Hot Dogs)https://www.instagram.com/vanessashotdogs/?hl=en in San Jose - Mexican bacon-wrapped hotdog with the works and fresh fries hit the spot

I think I found out about this place from the food news thread.

Dao Artisan Noodle in San Leandro, according to their website open til midnight 7 days a week. I had dinner there in late October and it was good, tasty, fresh. XLB were solid and sauteed pea shoots delicious. Dan dan noodles good too. I think they were out of hand pulled noodles by that time in the evening.

After some MLS game we need some late night dinner - Montero Taco Truck. Very good tacos with homemade tortillas and a massive, fully loaded hotdog.

Taco plate 1 - asada, chorizo, pollo

Taco plate 2 - lengua, carbeza, carnitas, papas con chorizo

Hotdog Montero - bacon wrapped sausage, asada, queso, pico de gallo, avocado, cream

Late night food options in the Outer Sunset area are pretty slim and so the only reasonable option was a slice of pizza at SF Hole in the Wall https://www.sfholeinthewallpizza.com on Irvine Street. Pizza was actually quite good only a little bit expensive but that’s a consequence of the no-competition situation close to midnight.

No Hangover Aloha - marinara, ham, bacon, pineapples, jalapeno

Not too many options for a late night snack in Hayes Valley with the exception of Hayz Dog https://www.hayzdogsf.com A number of creative hot dogs, e.g. elote, banh mi etc. A few chairs and tables outside in the parklet but otherwise more of a takeout place

The Tramp - bacon, hayz special sauce, charred serranos, chopped onions, cilantro
