We may have had some (or similar) for lunch.
Fun dish, comprised of all the ingredients we saw IN THE WILD (of the morning market).
CLAMZILLA these were fine, I’m partial to smaller clams like Little Necks and Manilas.
WINTER BAMBOO
MYSTERY VEGETABLE like Dou Miu, but not
Another MYSTERY VEGETABLE we saw at the market:
This was chopped up and SCRAMBLED with EGG
Nice crunch with a subtle earthy flavor.
KNIFE FISH WON TON
Very delicious, wonderful texture.
CRAB ROE TOFU
Star of this meal. Crabby umami in every silky bite.
SIGNATURE BRAISED LION’S HEAD MEATBALL NOODLES
Soft meatball, noodles with a great chew.
Restaurant located near a historical district, yet not overly touristy. Our table by a serene courtyard. Impeccable service.

That looks like clover. Could it have been alfalfa?

This looks pretty much exactly like the fresh fenugreek in India.
(Just checked google image search – it agrees.)

This one looks like Toona / Toon / Tooni (also eaten in Northeast India, which borders China).
ETA: I remembered a couple of mentions of it here: someone growing it and a dish at a nyc restaurant (where it’s called cedar)

Here’s a more recent sighting — scrambled eggs with chopped toon leaves — at Golden Palace Gourmet in Flushing.

That’s Toon alright. I’ll be harvesting it soon here; the trees are just starting to wake up.
