That’s more than a book a week! I better get cracking!
I read that article as well…quite the prolific reader.
I’ve been plugging away at this Revolutionary War book by Rick Atkinson. The sucker is over 800 pages, even reading it every night it’s going to take a while.
Thanks, that was a nice read. BTW, the article has a link to all the books he read:
Rereading Celebrity by Thomas Thompson for the first time in years. You really do have to live in Texas to appreciate this book.
Have I mentioned this one?
Just …wow. written in the 1993; story starts about 2025. Here’s a 2023 review on Medium.
Haven’t been able to get into Parable of the Talents the same way. Taking a break with another Gourmet Detective on Hoopla.
I think I’ll start now on the 3 months of New Yorkers I’ve missed.
Only THREE? HA HA HA.
HA.
I brought 3 issues back from Berlin, where I apparently had no time to read them
I don’t know, but it sounds amazing…and difficult to read.
Me Talk Pretty One Day
Interesting read, to be sure. I work in a pretty conservative district, and I’m unaware of any faculty or staff who go hyper liberal on our kids. We don’t have time or inclination to “indoctrinate” the kids we serve. If accepting a kid as they are is hyper liberal, than I am thus. I have noticed, though, that there are many more boys without father figures than girls lacking mother figures. I feel kids are best served by having both, regardless of birth sex, or post birth gander changes. We have one male teacher in our elementary school; but the females who teach there are not focused on any attempts to veer kids to a political side, regardless of the side. Let ‘em be frickin’ kids. I don’t see this “crisis” where I am. A few boys are in hot water, as are some girls. Such is the way. Love it when I get the kid who seems to struggle every year. Then, their senior year, it all clicks.
Horrifying what is going on in this country.
I just finished June 9! Next!
Aw, man. You’re so far ahead of me. I’ll never catch up. Neverrrrrr.
Just finished the June 9 issue. There is an interesting piece on Amelia Earhart that was a nice diversion for me. Next!
You are way ahead of me. I’m still stuck in April >ducks<
ETA: Now wait just a minute here… you said you’d already finished the 6/9 issue TWELVE DAYS ago! Are you maybe even further ahead?
Correction, I had STARTED the June 9 issue 12 days ago.
The brain is still ‘on strike’, it might be early onset something…
Currently reading this, funny and original concept.
Starting the July 28 issue of the New Yorker this evening! Woohoo!
:hangs head in shame:
I tell ya the stack isn’t even a quarter inch high now. I will be ending the subscription when it expires soon because I found I can read it online through our library.
