Despite being a French island, some of the newer restaurants that have opened are Italian. One of the newest is La Casina. Got there right in the middle of a stupendous downpour. Tropic rain storms can appear out of nowhere and pour buckets. Came in soaking wet but inside it was bright and inviting with a giant artificial lemon tree.
Had a starter of polpette. The meatballs were a bit dry but the sauce was spot on.
Then the highlight of my trip so far, filet de boeuf Rossini. A juicy tenderloin with a slab of foie gras on a bed of puréed carrots with a red wine reduction that was crazy crazy good.
Some limoncello to finish the meal and I was one happy guy.
