That assumes that the original $16 was a price point with a profit margin built in.
(Hint: it’s not)

Is this the new math?
Going from $16 to $26 is an increase of $10 or 62.5% ((26-16)/16).
162% = 26/16 which is not the same as the increase in price.
But I don’t get Stannard’s comment either. If he increased the price of the cocktail 25% (which isn’t the same as an 25% change in wages but the example is illustrative) a $16 cocktail would cost $20. If he is currently adding a 20% fee to the $16 cocktail, his gross is $19.20. Where does the $26 come from? I guess math was his strong suit.
26/16=…
poorly expressed.
I don’t get it either. why are they selling booze at a loss to begin with?
Another online forum I’m in is having a picnic on Saturday. I was going to bring a pizza from a great new-ish place downtown. But I balked at the price, $28.
So, I decided to make Greek meatballs. I picked up the ingredients this afternoon, and the total came to…$28.
being one who will be @ that picnic, i’m looking forward to the meatballs more than i would a pizza.
Right, 28-30 dollars for a large pizza.
Stuff is getting expensive. Pizza this Saturday in the new Gozney pizza oven . Great ingredients. Under 7 dollars a pizza . Really liking my new oven .
You did have to lay out for the oven, though.
I didnt have to . I wanted to . I was making multiple pizzas in the home oven before that.
Its a very nice piece of equipment that i will get alot of enjoyment out of . Making pizzas outside on the deck this summer.
This is the new normal.
People need to get used to it.
NO WE DON’T!
No, of course not.
One could just never eat out.
But then, people would complain about the price of groceries.
Humans. We are so predictable.

Need a new thread “The increasing Costs of Dining IN”.
Have you seen what a box of Cheerios is going for these days?
“Florida man” tells you all you need to know.
We stopped eating out altogether… not worth it.
As far as groceries, careful planning is required and one can stay on budget. Last week, pork chops were on sale, I purchased the limit and froze them. This week chicken breasts were on sale, again purchased the limit and froze them, as well. Potatoes were a steal this week, 10 pound bag for 99 cents limit 1 bag, and there is a lot I can do with potatoes.
I also got two heads of lettuce and a green pepper for 99 cents in a clearance bag. I used up the green pepper in a veggie casserole and I’m thinking about making lettuce soup with the two heads of lettuce.
I would like to see a sale on ground beef, we could use some of that… but if not, I’ll make a sausage meatloaf or a ground chicken meatloaf.
Now I know “road rage” en français? . But it was ‘Murikans, so I’m relieved that, should I ever set pied in France again, I won’t be bombarded with pasta.
I found the article:

Add “ bande d’arrêt d’urgence” , which I cannot even pronounce, to my vocabulary, and I’m ready for my world travels….
You might get pelted with pasta or poutine in Quebec, though, or you could get pelted by one of the many Quebec snowbirds who over winter in Florida.
I checked, and the perp in Florida and the perp in Indianapolis were not French Canadians.
When in Florida, do as the Florida Men do. Or not.
