Chops, d’oh! Our final meal in Berlin was a platter of various grilled lamb bits, with the ribs being my favorite. I can’t believe that was just two weeks ago
That lamb you had in Berlin looks delish!
Love the rainbow too!
My final meal of the trip was at my old favorite for pizza, Pupatella on Wilson. I usually order a Diavola, but felt like something new so i got a Caivano w sausage, pepperoni and bacon.
Great crust, good ingredients, an excellent pie. As good as the Diavola, i think.
Flying home to Montana now! Woohoo! My “neighbor” is growing bigger by the day, i bet. I am curious to see how the deer are faring in the heat.
I just noticed this thread and thought WOW - I hear the NJ DMV is really slow but to be there for a week is CRAZY!
Where exactly is DMV?
Looks like you had a good-eatin’ trip! Thank you for the updates. They are supposedly opening a Pupatella in Alexandria on Slaters Lane, site of an old dry cleaners.
DC-Maryland-Virginia
The DMV is short for the District, Maryland and Virginia. It got started by radio DJs decades ago, if memory serves, then became common w everyone.
Though i have spent a day waiting at the MD DMV, i did not even think about how confusing the title was! Sorry!
Interesting! My Ex-GF used to live just north of that dry cleaner. I would never have thought it would be a pizza place, let alone a good one.
That’s what I would have guessed but wanted to make sure. Thank you
Not your fault! The DMV in NJ is just so notorious for slow service that it’s always the first thing I think of when I see those initials. In fact, they actually changed the name to MVC - Motor Vehicle Commission - to fool people into thinking things are different.
Sorry I missed you! I was out of town the whole time. Looks like you hit some old standards and did well for yourself.
It was fun to visit old hangouts! I had a few hits and a few misses. LOL!
What wonderful series of reports!
Thank you! I don’t do fine dining often but I am a big fan of neighborhood places. Some hits, some misses.
Having lived in the DMV for 30+ years and now living in NW Montana, the dining options in the DMV are simply astounding. Your recent posts about Southern Maryland seafood places reminded me of just how much I took it for granted.
Montana has improved so much over the past 30 years it is hard to believe, but it is still a sparsely populated state with little culinary history other than Norwegian hot dishes, venison, fried walleye, excellent steaks and…
I can not think of another.
We loved our trip to Montana! It’s such beautiful state! We were situated in West Glacier and had ended up with bad colds from our Alaska trip, and that ruled out dinner in Whitefish or Kallispell. And I was very disappointed we couldn’t get to Livingston for dinner the last night. I’d love to go back!
Huckleberry milkshakes!
West Glacier rocks! Belton Inn is very nice, and Apgar Village may be touristy but the view of the lake is phenomenal! One of my favorite things about Glacier is the historic Jammer buses that start at Apgar. Very cool machines!
Huckleberries really are good! I have the jam and the syrup, the shakes are crazy expensive but worth it. The NW section of Montana is famous for cherries too, I am a huge fan of the Rainier type. We are starting to get a limited amount of Rainiers from the Montana growers this month. The trees were nearly killed by temps that dropped into the -35 to -40 range in January. Most survived but are producing very little fruit this year.
